The Challenge

The general contractor needed a trusted fabrication partner who could create an eye-catching façade made entirely out of lit fins. The design featured 385 contoured, vertical fins, of varying sizes based on their location on the façade, with integrated pixel-controlled lighting that would be able to deliver video content.

The Solution

Jones Architectural Creations worked closely with the general contractor to create a workable solution from the architectural renderings. We specially fabricated the fins to be supported by a sub-structure that provided the contouring, horizontal support, and mounting brackets needed to make the design feasible. The façade was designed with an integrated LED pixel point system capable of delivering video content over the entirety of the façade. Due to the extremely detailed spacing requirements and lighting integration, we utilized modular construction techniques to perfect the installation.

The Result

FC Cincinnati features 14,370 linear feet of pixel stick and 840,000 LEDs. The façade is enclosed with decorative metal fins that vary in size based on their location on the stadium. Besides providing visual interest, the fins have the ability to broadcast video content during games and events. The stadium has a truly one-of-a-kind look that is stunning whether it is lit up and broadcasting video or not.
